    Worries about mom driving drunk are about three hours late
    MEDINA CITIZEN ASSIST:An Abbeyville Road man called because he was concerned about his mother. She had driven to his apartment and was obviously intoxicated. She drove away, and he became concerned about her safety and the safety of others; however, three hours had passed before he notified the Police Department. VANDALISM:An East Smith Road homeowner found the holiday tree knocked down, a hole in the drywall, a mirror shattered, and a coffeepot broken. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:After an argument at his residence, a 54-year-old South Elmwood Street man was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. FRAUD:A North Court Street store's security manager reported that they may have received counterfeit bills. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A verbal argument between husband and wife resulted in the husband being given a ride by the police to his daughter's residence for the night. TRAFFIC:Police stopped a car on Heritage Drive because of suspicious activity. The 39-year-old Chippewa Lake man's driver's license was suspended, and there were several active warrants for his arrest. In addition, he was illegally transporting an assault rifle. He was arrested, charged and incarcerated. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:An 18-year-old Countryside Drive woman called police because she was having an argument with her mother, who was intoxicated and had come into her bedroom to yell at her. The mother became upset and spilled a glass of wine on her daughter and her belongings. The mother requested that her daughter leave for the night, and she did. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:Police responded to a report of a cracked window at a Brandywine address. The homeowner had concerns of whether there had been a possible attempted burglary. Police determined that there was no additional evidence of tampering with any doors or windows. The crack is possibly weather related from high winds and freezing rain the previous night. HARASSMENT:A Birch Hill resident reported receiving harassing text messages from her ex-husband. FRAUD:A North Huntington Street resident reported that someone changed the "pay to the order of" information on a check and cashed it. The case is open pending further investigation and contact with the suspect and a witness. TRAFFIC:A registration check found the vehicle was registered to a Normandy Park man with an active warrant through Medina Police Department. He was arrested and processed and then posted his bond. VANDALISM:A Glenwell Circle resident reported that a Christmas tree arrangement was damaged, the manger scene was knocked down, and lighted décor unplugged. DISTURBANCE:A late-night altercation over a parking space at a West Liberty Street bar resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old West Washington Street man with a warrant from Medina Municipal Court. ASSAULT:A man arrived at the Medina General Hospital Emergency Room with a laceration to the front of his neck, a small laceration on his left cheek and another on the bridge of his nose. He was assaulted in the area of Prospect Avenue and East 23rd Street in Cleveland. SERVE WARRANTS:A man with an active warrant had been at an Alexandria Lane residence. Before police arrived, the man left on his way to Brunswick. Medina Police notified the Brunswick Police Department, who located and arrested the man. TRAFFIC:The vehicle stopped on West Liberty Street for not having a working license plate light was being driven by a 24-year-old man from Allison Park, Pa. He was arrested for heroin possession, and his 28-year-old female passenger from Canal Fulton was arrested for drug abuse and drug paraphernalia. ASSAULT:A West Washington Street woman stated that her ex-boyfriend had struck her on the left side of her face twice. There were no visible signs of injury, but she complained that her jaw hurt. The next day she went to the emergency room at Medina General Hospital. TRAFFIC:A car was stopped for a red light violation. The 33-year-old West Union Street man driving was issued a citation for driving under suspension, red light violation, and no seat belt use. Then he was arrested for a felony warrant from Medina Police Department. ASSAULT:Police responded to a business on South Court Street, where a man who claimed to have been "jumped" at a Sturbridge house had walked after the alleged assault. Police spoke to the people at the Sturbridge house. VANDALISM:A Racoa Place homeowner had Christmas decorations and yard ornaments removed from the yard. The decorations had been found and returned, and the owner will call back if damage was found. TRAFFIC:A car stopped for no working license plate light had a female passenger with an outstanding warrant from the Medina County Sheriff's Office. She was arrested and taken to the Medina County jail. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:An employee of a West Liberty Street bar was concerned about leaving work because of a car parked behind the building and occupied by several men. They were found to be smoking marijuana and arrested, and later issued summons for drug abuse and drug paraphernalia.

    Cruising through town at 3 a.m. gets four teens arrested
    MEDINA TRAFFIC:What started as a 3 a.m. traffic stop at the 800 block of East Smith Road turned into four juveniles from Parma Heights, West Salem, Maple Heights and Brunswick being arrested for curfew violation. THEFT:More than $500 in cash was stolen from a purse at Medina Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation facility on Miner Road. HARASSMENT:Two people were arguing at a North Huntington street address over an unpaid electric bill. They resolved their differences. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:A window was kicked out of its frame at a Branch Road address. SHOPLIFTING:A 43-year-old Brunswick Hills man was arrested for shoplifting two bottles of cologne from the Target store. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A North State Street husband called police after he confronted his wife with information about her infidelity. They argued, and she reportedly kicked him in the ankle. He did not wish to file charges, but she left the residence for the evening. THEFT:A 20-year-old Wooster bachelor was arrested for shoplifting a $20 pregnancy test from K-Mart. TRAFFIC:When police stopped the car on the 700 block of East Smith Road, it was for no license plate light. The odor of marijuana came from inside the car, which prompted a search. The 21-year-old Normandy Park Drive man and his 20-year-old North Court Street passenger were arrested for possession of marijuana, and the driver was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. DISTURBANCES:An anonymous complaint was called in at 3 a.m. to police about a possible domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the male resident at the address, who had been asleep all night, and his two young daughters were also sleeping. Neighbors also advised that they had not heard anything. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:Window glass at a Halifax Lane home was damaged. The method of damage appears to be a pellet. TRAFFIC:A random registration check revealed that the car owner's license was suspended. He was issued a citation and released to a licensed driver. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A 20-year-old Southport Drive male as arrested for making threats against his parents. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:A man told police that an unknown white male in his 30s wearing large, thick glasses and with a mustache pulled his gray 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala next to his car in the K-Mart parking lot, got out, and started talking to him and making odd comments about shooting things. The complainant told the man he needed to leave, and then drove to the police department. TRAFFIC:An 18-year-old Strongsville male was arrested following a traffic stop. He was charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia and incarcerated at the Medina County Sheriff's Office. WARRANT:A 25-year-old Wadsworth man was arrested by the Norton Police Department on three outstanding warrants from Medina. He was taken to the Medina County Sheriff's Office. ILLEGAL DUMPING:Police responded to Bolivar and Medina streets to check an unknown liquid draining into the city sewer system. It turned out to be non-toxic mulch dye, and it was cleaned up by the responsible person and the city. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:A car was "keyed" at a West Liberty Street address. ANIMAL:Police responded to a Brimfield Road address to help the homeowner with a raccoon that was stuck in the garage. Police were able to remove it. DISTURBANCE:Neighbors complained to police of a man and woman arguing in a van outside a Bronson Street address. The subjects stated that they were there to see a friend and may have been talking loud. They were advised to leave the property. CITIZEN ASSIST:A Ridge Road man complained that his neighbor is shoveling snow onto his driveway. Police determined that it is not a problem at this time, but that it could become an issue when the snow is deeper. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A 28-year-old South Harmony Street man called police when he and his wife were arguing. The wife was arrested for domestic violence and incarcerated at the Medina County Sheriff's Office Jail. RECOVERED STOLEN PROPERTY: A stolen firearm was recovered from the gun show at the fairgrounds. It was placed into police property.

    Dodging a court date lands Rittman man in county jail
    MEDINA WARRANT:Wadsworth police turned over a 39-year-old Rittman man they arrested on a Medina Police Department failure to appear warrant. He was served with a copy of the warrant and incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:Police responded to an Abbeyville Road address where a husband and wife were fighting. The wife had possible rib injuries and was taken to Medina General Hospital by the Medina LST. The 29-year-old husband has a prior conviction. CITIZEN ASSIST:A Plymouth Road man reported that his credit card had been used fraudulently. All the charges were in Avon, so he was referred to the Avon Police Department. DISTURBANCE:A late-night call to a South Huntington Street address led to the citation of five 18-year-old adults for underage consumption of alcohol. The male resident was also charged with furnishing alcohol. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:Police responded to a domestic argument between a Branch Road step-father and his step-son. The boy was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:A 19-year-old Gladden Place male who was stumbling through the Centerpointe Plaza parking lot and holding a 12-oz. can of Blatz beer was arrested and charged with underage consumption, then released on a summons. ASSIST OTHER DEPARTMENT: The Medina Police Department obtained a sample of DNA and sent it to the Davie Police Department in Florida in regards to a death. THEFT:A wallet with $10 was left on the counter at a South Elmwood Street business, and it was gone when the owner returned to claim it. The case is open pending review of surveillance footage. HARASSMENT:A Stratton Road woman reported receiving three threatening voicemail messages from an unknown man over the past six months. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A mother-daughter fight at a Bronson Street address caused the daughter to pull her mother's hair and hit her, and the mother hit back and pulled the daughter to the ground with her hair. Neither party had physical injury marks. The daughter was transported to her father's residence for the rest of the night. THEFT:A 58-year-old Elyria woman and a 37-year-old Valley City woman attempted to shoplift DVDs and CDs from a North Court Street store. Both were arrested for theft and complicity to commit theft. FRAUD:A Highland Road resident reported that counterfeit checks had been cashed in other states. The total to date is approximately $22,000. DISTURBANCE:Units were dispatched to an East Washington Street address for a loud music complaint. A 23-year-old Harding Street man was arrested on a felony warrant and transported to the county jail. THEFT:A 27-year-old driver reported that the driver's side and passenger side windows of his 1999 Chevy Tahoe were shattered and a CD case was taken while he was parked at a North Court Street bar. NOISE:Police responded to a Weymouth Road address in response to a complaint of loud music and noise. It turned out that the surround-sound feature of the sound system is stuck on "action," and it cannot be turned down. The owner was advised to turn it off. WARRANT:The Lucas County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who had an active warrant with Medina Police. He was served with a copy of the warrant and transported to the Medina Police Department, and is now incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:A 24-year-old Freeport Road man was arrested behind a North Court Street business for possession of marijuana. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:A fence gate and Christmas decorations were damaged at a Guilford Boulevard address. The gate latch was broken, releasing the dog, and wires were cut. SUSPICIOUS PERSON:A 21-year-old Hanover Road man was sitting on the front porch of an Ellington Court address, and then he tried to enter the residence. He was issued a summons for criminal trespass. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:The right rear tire of a car was slashed with a piece of glass while parked at a Springbrook Road address. BAD CHECK:A South Jefferson business accepted a check that was returned. The police department made contact with the check writer and gave them 10 days to replace the funds. DISTURBANCE:A 14-year-old girl called the police after she and her 14-year-old brother got into a shoving match. Their mother stepped in and said she would handle the situation. The mother was advised on how to file unruly charges. CRIMINAL DAMAGE: The rear window of a car parked at an Abbeyville Road address was left with a hole after someone threw a sledgehammer through it. THEFT:Someone using a stolen library card took $706.06 worth of DVDs and CDs from the library. The case is open pending further investigation. TRESPASSING:A 35-year-old Cleveland man had been removed from an Abbeyville Road address, but he returned. He was arrested. THEFT:Candy and gum were shoplifted from a South Court Street business. TRAFFIC:A 43-year-old Wadsworth man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and obstructing official business.
